Invisalign® Clear Aligners for Children and Teens in Apex

What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® treatment uses a customized series of clear plastic aligners. Each aligner applies controlled pressure to selected teeth before the patient advances to the next stage in the prescribed sequence.

The aligners are removable for meals, brushing, flossing, and certain activities. Attachments, elastics, or additional aligner sets may be included when needed to support specific tooth movements.

Benefits of Invisalign®

Removable Treatment

Patients can remove their aligners for meals and oral hygiene, allowing them to brush and floss without navigating around fixed brackets or wires.

Less Noticeable Appearance

The clear material makes Invisalign® less visible than traditional braces, although tooth-colored attachments may still be necessary.

Digital Treatment Planning

Digital scans and diagnostic records are used to plan the proposed sequence of tooth movement and create the customized aligners.

Why Choose Green Level Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics?

  • Care for growing patients: Treatment planning accounts for tooth eruption, facial growth, bite development, and the transition from primary to permanent teeth.
  • Coordinated oral-health monitoring: The pediatric dental team can monitor cavities, gum health, enamel, and hygiene throughout aligner treatment.
  • Multiple treatment options: The orthodontic care provider can determine whether Invisalign®, another aligner system, braces, or growth monitoring is most appropriate.

The Invisalign® Process

Complete the Evaluation

The provider examines tooth alignment, bite relationships, oral health, and dental development. Digital scans, photographs, and diagnostic imaging may be collected.

Begin Aligner Treatment

Customized aligners are created according to the treatment plan. The patient receives instructions for daily wear, changing aligners, cleaning the trays, and using any prescribed attachments or elastics.

Monitor and Retain

Progress appointments allow the provider to evaluate tooth movement and determine whether refinements are needed. Retainers are prescribed after active treatment to help maintain the corrected positions.

“My kids have been going to this practice since they were toddlers, and having one doctor who understands their complete dental history and growth patterns has made such a difference. Dr. Kim treats them like they’re his own children and recommends only what’s truly necessary. The convenience of having both their regular checkups and orthodontics in one place has been a game-changer for our family.”

“What impressed me most was how honest the doctor is about treatment recommendations. He explained exactly why each step was needed and never pushed unnecessary procedures. Having someone I trust completely managing both my kids’ dental and orthodontic care gives me peace of mind. The staff is incredibly kind and patient with nervous children.”

“We switched practices specifically because we wanted someone who could handle both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics under one roof. The continuity of care is amazing, and our kids actually look forward to their appointments. The whole team treats every patient like family, and the clinical expertise is evident in every interaction.”

Key Findings About Invisalign®

Can children and teens use Invisalign®?

Yes. Invisalign® offers systems designed for growing children and teenagers. Candidacy depends on dental development, treatment needs, case complexity, and the patient’s ability to wear and care for the aligners consistently.

How many hours should the aligners be worn?

Patients are generally instructed to wear their aligners for most of the day and night, removing them only for eating, drinking beverages other than water, brushing, and flossing. The provider will give a specific daily schedule.

Is Invisalign® as effective as braces?

Invisalign® can effectively address many alignment and bite concerns, but it is not the best option for every case. Braces may provide better control for certain complex movements. The appropriate appliance is selected after a complete evaluation.

Does Invisalign® hurt?

Patients may notice pressure or temporary soreness when beginning treatment or changing to a new aligner. This generally improves as the teeth and surrounding tissues adapt.

Can my child eat normally during treatment?

Yes. The aligners are removed for meals, so there are fewer food restrictions than with braces. Teeth should be cleaned before the aligners are reinserted whenever possible.

What happens if my child does not wear the aligners consistently?

Inconsistent wear can prevent the teeth from tracking according to the digital plan, extend treatment, and increase the likelihood of needing additional aligners or another treatment approach.
